Successful afternoon tea for Autism Cayman

A delightful afternoon tea fundraiser held at The Brasserie at the beginning of the month brought together guests for an elegant yet spirited twist on a classic afternoon tea, with proceeds going to support Autism Cayman.

Allison Olarou, Director - Autism Cayman, said the event, entitled ‘Neurodiversi-Tea 2025: Tea & Tequila Afternoon Tea Fundraiser’, said the event was a big success.

“We were absolutely thrilled by the turnout and the overwhelmingly positive feedback. Many guests commented on the vibrant atmosphere, thoughtful pairing of flavours, and the meaningful cause behind the event,” she stated. “Attendees enjoyed delightful bites, fine teas, and refreshing tequila-inspired cocktails—all in support of our charitable mission.”

Ms Olarou said funds raised during the afternoon would directly support their ongoing efforts in promoting autism acceptance and providing community-based support, information and advocacy to autistic people and their families.

“Every contribution will make a real difference in furthering our impact,” she confirmed.

There were many entities involved in making the fundraiser such a success and they included: RE/MAX, RBC, Hi-Tide, Magical Events, Gina Connolly, Tortuga Wine & Spirits, Teremana Tequila, Tea Time in Cayman, The Brasserie, DJ Anthony, and numerous organisations who donated raffle prizes and silent auction items.

“Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on this momentum. Stay tuned for the next event on our calendar: Autism Cayman Symposium 2026. Planning is already underway for this free educational event dedicated to advancing understanding, inclusion, and support for the autism and neurodiverse community in the Cayman Islands and beyond,” Ms Olarou said.

This event will take place on Saturday 18 April 2026 at John Gray High School. Find out more at autism.ky or follow social @autismcayman.

“We invite organisations, parents, educators, healthcare professionals, advocates, community leaders, and neurodiverse individuals to mark their calendars and plan to be part of this impactful gathering where we’ll continue bringing the community together for meaningful experiences and positive change,” she continued. “Let’s continue building a more inclusive future — together.”

Autism Cayman is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, which has made meaningful strides toward its mission of fostering understanding, inclusion, and empowerment for the autism and broader neurodiverse community since its inauguration in February 2024.
