Trini boss: I’ll take lie detector
Trinidad and Tobago politics is in turmoil as two former senior civil servants argue over whether there was a policy of firing people of East Indian descent from the Strategic Services Agency.
After former Strategic Services Agency head Matthew Andrews labelled former Intelligence Director Carlton Dennie a pathological liar, Mr Dennie agreed to subject himself to a lie detector test as he maintains he was asked to fire people of East Indian descent from the service.
Mr Dennie insisted he had nothing to hide. “I have passed many lie detector tests in the past and I have no problem taking one now,” he said. Mr Dennie had initially alleged that the directive for the racist policy at the SSA was given by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley but he later changed his story and indicated that it was Mr Andrews who had made the order. The claim forced Mr Andrews to host a press conference where he said he was prepared to challenge the allegations in court.
