Harneys continues support of the Youth Parliament program

For the fourth consecutive year, Harneys is the title sponsor of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Youth Parliament program.

Harneys is committed to supporting youth endeavours in the local community. By sponsoring this program, Harneys is able to guarantee that the students have the resources they need to make the most of this opportunity and be able to focus on learning new skills to help develop them into future leaders.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Youth Parliament program is aimed at students between the ages of 14 to 19 years, from both government and private high schools. Participants gain insight into parliament and are given the opportunity to learn public speaking while associating with peers from other schools. The programme allows the students to engage in debates on topics that affect their lives and provides them with a platform to voice their opinions.

Zena Merren-Chin, Honorary Secretary of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association said: “The Legislative Assembly Youth Parliament is extremely grateful to Harneys for once again sponsoring the Youth Parliament programme. The programme was developed to provide our youth with firsthand knowledge of parliamentary practices and procedures. It also provides them with a glimpse of the some of the responsibilities of their elected members as well afford them the opportunity to voice their views on topical issues.”

Nick Hoffman, Partner at Harneys said: “We are delighted to be actively involved with the young, intelligent students who take part in this program. It is always a wonderful experience meeting the new cohort that joins each year and we wish them all the best in the course of their journey.”
