The LSHS Class of 2025

Layman E. Scott Sr. High School (LSHS) hosted its 50th Graduation Ceremony at the Aston Rutty Centre, celebrating twelve graduates under the theme “From Small Beginnings, Great Things Grow.”

Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Education and Training, the Honourable Rolston Anglin, J.P., congratulated the graduates on their achievements and urged them to embrace their potential.

“Be resilient, be strong, dream big, and ensure that your dreams take you to places your imagination might sometimes be scared to think about,” he said.

Acting Principal Kevin Roberts praised the Class of 2025 for their perseverance and highlighted the collaborative efforts of parents, teachers, and the wider community in supporting their success.

“This class may be small in number, but they are mighty in spirit. Their achievements reflect hard work, resilience, and the collective support that defines our school community,” he said.

The cohort achieved outstanding academic results, with 83% attaining five or more Level 2 passes and 75% meeting the “gold standard” of achieving five or more Level 2 passes including English and Mathematics. In addition, 83% of students achieved Level 2 passes in English and Science, while 75% did so in Mathematics—well above the 2024 regional average.

The ceremony also celebrated student excellence across multiple disciplines, including academics, STEM, the arts, sports, leadership, service, and character.

Valedictorian Sirichandana Batta received multiple accolades, including the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, the Health City Top Student in Science Award, the DART STEM Award, the Cayman National Bank Absolute Standout Award, and the Ernst & Young Top Academic Achievement Award, among others.

In addition to academic excellence, the ceremony highlighted students who have followed unique educational paths and achieved outstanding success. Samuel Dixon, a student in the school’s Special Education Needs programme, exemplified this through the successful completion of his ASDAN programme of study last school year. His perseverance, creativity, and leadership have led to important personal milestones and reflect the school’s strong commitment to inclusive education and supporting every student to succeed.

Samuel Dixon was recognised for his creativity, resilience, and leadership in the performing arts, receiving the Performing Arts Award, Spirit of Excellence Award, and ASDAN Gold Award Certificate, among others.

The school expressed its gratitude to over 20 sponsors and community partners, several families and foundations—whose contributions made the awards possible.

The Ministry of Education & Training and the Department of Education Services extend warm congratulations to the LSHS Class of 2025, their families, and the entire school community.
