UCCI LAUNCHES 50 FOR 50TH STEM SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR 10 - 14 YEAR OLDS
The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) today announced its special 50 for 50th STEM Summer Workshops at the Grand Cayman campus, featuring five distinct half-day workshops for young learners aged 10 to 14.
The programme generously sponsored by Enterprise Cayman as part of UCCI’s 50th anniversary celebration, will run Monday through Friday, August 18-22, 2025, and will cost only $25 per workshop. Registration opens on Monday 2 June 2025 and places will fill fast.
The innovative programme will engage exactly 50 students in hands-on STEM activities, symbolizing UCCI’s five decades of educational excellence. Each session runs from 9:00am to 12:00noon at the UCCI Campus, with check-in beginning at 8:30 am and pick-up available until 12:30 pm.
“Our ‘50 for 50th’ initiative represents both our milestone anniversary and our dedication to nurturing the next generation of innovators,” said Dr Antoinette Gayle, UCCI Assistant Professor. “Thanks to Enterprise Cayman’s generous sponsorship, we can offer these high-quality, focused sessions that allow students to explore cutting-edge STEM fields from 3D printing to forensic science.”
Programme Schedule:
• Monday, August 18: 3D Design and Printing – Students design and print their own trinkets
• Tuesday, August 19: Health & Environmental Science – Build terrariums and explore healthactivities
• Wednesday, August 20: Computer Programming – Build and program Arduino systems withsensors
• Thursday, August 21: Chemistry, Biology and Forensic Science – Conduct experiments andsolve crimes using forensic techniques
• Friday, August 22: Robotics – Build and program robots
Programme Highlights:
• Format: Five standalone half-day sessions (9:00 am - 12:00 noon)
• Age Range: 10-14 years old
• Cost: CI$25 per workshop (includes materials and snacks)
• Limit: Maximum two sessions per student
• Location: UCCI Campus, Grand Cayman
Enterprise Cayman’s sponsorship covers most programme costs, including materials, facilitator honorariums, and refreshments, making these high-quality STEM experiences accessible to young Caymanians at an affordable price point.

Students will be given their first choice of activities where possible, and registration will close when all 50 spaces are filled. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register early as places are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
