The storm continues to meander across the Caribbean, currently deemed stationary (not moving). Environmental conditions are expected to become more favourable for development through the weekend, with TS Melissa anticipated to become a Hurricane by Saturday.
The 2019 National Song Competition is returning to the Pirates Week calendar after a strong comeback last year with over a dozen entrants.
The event brought out participation from over 1200 young persons, in addition to families and friends from across the Cayman Islands who came out to support their personal favorites over the course of the weekend.

Officials from various sectors of the community gathered last Thursday to witness the unveiling of the Chamber of Commerce’s latest arm to their Cayman Clean initiative, the placing of the first specially designed trash receptacle at Smith Cove.
In a statement, Government advised that the referendum day will be a public holiday, but that licensed bars and similar establishments will be permitted to remain open to minimise disruption during the holiday season.
